禁止，不准某人做某事

例：

He forbade them from mentioning the subject again.

2. forbid+名词（代词、动名词，不能直接接动词不定式，但是被动语态是可以接不定式的）

例：

Her father forbade the marriage.

3. forbid+直接宾语+不定式

例：

They'll forbid you to marry.

他们不会准许你结婚。

His own pride forbids him to ask Arthur's help.

4. forbid+间接宾语+直接宾语

例：

My doctor has forbidden me sugar.

prohibit指通过法律、法令或警告等做出禁止命令的正式规定或规则，常用的搭配形式为：prohibit sb. from sth./doing sth.

如：

这里禁止吸烟。

此外，prohibi赶可以表示“阻止”。

如：

I fear that a prior engagement will prohibit me from joining you in dinner.
